Is also known as From Interlachen, take SR 20 west until the junction of CR 21 at
Johnson Crossroads. Turn left on CR
21, just before the Dollar General. Go
south on CR 21 3.5 miles to Ms Nancy Vause
is the owner and caretaker of the cemetery.
She became aware of the cemetery and that she was heir to it around
ten years ago, and started working to recover and restore it. When the Cemetery Task force visited the
site in 1999, it was declared abandoned, with very little evidence of
graves. Thanks to Ms. Nancy it is no
longer. At her own expense, she has
cleared, pruned, researched, located and marked the unmarked graves. This included hiring ground imaging radar
surveyors, which is NOT cheap. The
markers, with the exception of William James Vause, are hand made concrete,
with the names impressed by Ms Nancy.
She hopes to replace them with granite later on as finances permit. There are five known graves.
These are Ms Nancy’s great-great grandparents, great grandparents, and
one great uncle. This week (June 5, 2017) Ms. Nancy contacted us through the
website, asking to be included in the Cemetery Project. Naturally we are happy to oblige. This made our day!! We visited June 8, 2017, to photograph and
interview Ms. Nancy. KEUKA QUAD. N 29o
