Silver Lake Drive and
This is also where Reverend Billy
Graham was met by Reverend Cecil Underwood, and convinced to switch from
Presbyterianism, to Baptist, and was baptized in a nearby lake. Contrary to popular belief, Rev. Graham’s
first sermon was not here, but at a small church in Bostwick. He had four sermons prepared, he said in
an interview shortly before his death, but was so nervous that he delivered
all four in ten minutes! The cemetery is still active with an additional area added in June of 1996. But when I inquired about early records, I was advised that early records either didn't exist, or were in 'disarray'. So this list is comprised of a physical survey done sometime in 1976, and deposited in the Palatka Public Library, before it became the head of the Putnam County Library System. Markers in existence then may not be there now.
Members of the Putnam County Genealogical Society, the Putnam County Archivist, and other interested volunteers updated it on October 5, 2002. SATSUMA QUAD N 29o 36.925 W

photographic survey conducted in 2011 and 2012 by Mary E. Murphy. |
