Since this survey was done, the County Archivist was contacted April 23, 2002 by Bill Huntley regarding this cemetery.  It is in the way of mining operations and he wishes to contact relatives of the persons buried there and have them relocate the graves.  According to Mr. Huntley, there are four:  A. M. Mathews, F. J. Mathews, and two infants, Joseph E., d. 1885, and Lelia, d. 1886.  No other dates are given.  While it has been theorized that this cemetery was for some of the workers at the Kaolin mines, it is interesting that these dates predate the founding of Edgar, which occurred in 1888 by brothers Charles S. and Albert C. Edgar.

Anyone having any information about relatives of these people is encouraged to contact me, Mary E. Murphy, at EM, or telephone Mr. Huntley at (386) 328-0506.  Thank you, Mary E. Murphy, Putnam County Archivist.
