TANGLEWYLDE

Frances Griffin Brown Frank was married to Paul Brown, and then later to Stanley Frank.  Frances named her property “Tanglewylde”, thus the name of the burial site.   She was an ardent environmentalist before it became ‘fashionable’ and was active in the various Garden Clubs.   She wished her property to be kept in perpetuity as an Educational and Recreational Park, so it was deeded to the Florida Wildlife Federation via a Life Estate warranty deed recorded in OR 555 P 1376.    Unfortunately, the Florida Wildlife Federation has sought in latter years to divest itself of this property, and her personal property and collections were sold at auction.

There is one marker for all three of the deceased.   The marker is located on lot 29 of Bodine Powers S/D (recorded in MB 4 Page 7), approximately 125 feet south of and 12 feet west of the N/W corner of Lot 29.   The parcel #17-09-27-0700-0000-0250 contains Lots 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29.   HASTINGS QUAD.  N 29o 38.824 W 81o 38.055 (GPS reading is approximately 30 feet West of grave marker).   (Neglected).

NOTE:  It was reported in today’s Palatka Daily News that the Board of County Commissioners have voted to acquire the Tanglewylde property.  Click here to view the story.  Mary E. Murphy-Hoffmann, Putnam County Archivist (Ret.)
